Like many Nordic industrial companies, Metso faces a number of challenges: - The market is moving east as welfare increases and China already accounts for around half of the total market for new machines. - Brand new players are starting to produce tissue and their buying process is driven in part by properties other than those of the traditional customers. - Customers do not realize the full benefit of Metso's added value such as fast start-ups and low downtime, which leads to price discussions. - Service is increasing in importance.
